Michigan Central Station

Michigan Central Station which is located in Detroit was assembled in 1913 for Michigan Central Railroad. This is an ancient central station; it has not a train pass for more than twenty years. Its mighty walls are still in a good position, we have been observing an ongoing discuss about this station. Some are in the view that it should be demolish while some have been saying that it is a heritage so that it should not be ruined. Last year on 7th April 2009, a resolution was passed by the Detroit City Council for the demolition of Depot. A Detroit citizen Stanley Christmas took legal action against this resolution; Christmas cited National Historic Preservation Act 1996 and stopped the demolition. Some officials call it a fabulous specimen of Gothic architecture while some say this is an eyesore building in the city. The group that considers Michigan Central Station is a blemish building is in the view that it must be demolished. Preservation Wayne’s director Karen Nagher said that people have been comparing the Michigan Central Station to Roman ruins. Nagher also stated that no doubt some people do not want to see this building at all, but I love to behold it. Some of people say that this 97 years old building should be changed into modern building, they say turn this building into a hotel, a casino or a modern railway station. A permanent visitor of Michigan Central Station Mr. Cooley said that such building should not be depreciated and it should stand in the city. Cooley added that building gives you an idea about our postindustrial site; what desertion seems akin to; we can learn a lot from the current condition of this building.
