Erik Gates, a regular guest star on The Discovery Channel program Mythbusters, died as a result of a freak accident this week. It is said he died as the result of injuries suffered in a 30 foot fall. He was not filming for the series at the time, but instead working electrical for his day job. Gates appeared as the amateur rocket expert on four episodes of Mythbusters.

The following went out on the Mythbusters Twitter account after the announcement of his death was made: “Team MB wishes to express our deepest sympathies on the passing of our beloved rocket expert, Erik.” and “You were an honorary MythBuster and will be sorely missed.”
