Navy advancement center offers online courses for sailors to advance in studies and provides material to prepare for the Nation-wide advancement exam. The other objective of Navy Advancement Study Guide & Bupers News is to equip you with necessary links and tips related to study and preparation for the advancement exam.

The links include news related to other enlisted sailors, development, education and references related to warfare. The preparation with this advancement course is the same as other ordinary exams’ preparation but there is one difference of “self-study”. You are your own teacher and you have to self-regulate yourself as far as study schedule or exploring the relevant study material is concerned. You have to do all this yourself. You are given bibliographies or references which you have to download yourself.

The first thing you have to do is to get downloads of all relevant bibliographies which is essential for preparing for the exam. Left column of the webpage is a place where you can find the links related to bibliographies. Then you have to get registered with the online courses (NAVEDTRA). When you are successful in getting yourself registered, an acknowledgment of your enrolment will be sent to you. You should access courses via Navy credit rather than downloading the courses without getting enrolled. But there are exceptions as well. You can not download all military material such as classified material or military pubs etc.

When 16 and Pregnant Chelsea got in touch with her boyfriend Adam to tell him to come and see their child she didn’t get the response that she had expected as he thought that sleeping was more important that seeing his child. Chelsea has changed Aubree’s last name to Houska which is Chelsea’s own last name after all the rude and inappropriate messages that Adam has sent her, referring to the child as a mistake in one of them. Adam wasn’t much liked by Chelsea’s father and it is obvious now why he thought that Adam was unreliable.

Pringles Recall

A new Pringles recall affects two Pringles flavors: Restaurant Cravers Cheeseburger and Family Faves Taco Night.The FDA believes these products may have been contaminated by salmonella. If the products contain a “Best by” 2011 stamp, they may be at risk.The Pringles recall is related to other recent recalls involving salmonella, which involve Basic Food Flavors, Inc. An onion soup recall took place last week.

 The FDA has identified 94 products in all that use HVP seasoning from Basic Food Flavors and more recalls could be on the way.

Sarah Rogers Missing

So sad to hear when people goes missing. Sarah Rogers, 29 was reported missing On December 13, 2009, a young mother, Sarah Rogers, 29, who is also bipolar and schizophrenic was in the midst of a manic episode and took off from her home in Barrington, NH. Her husband phoned 911 immediately. Six hours later her vehicle was found 2.5 hours away from home stuck in the snow bank on I-95 in Maine. Her vehicle was in gear, her door open, her dome light on and her purse was lying on the ground 30 feet away from her vehicle and no sight of Sarah. Conflicting reports were made in which the Maine State Police felt snow prints were found leading to the southbound lanes and assumed Ms. Rogers may have taken a ride.

The Chelsea King case was resolved in a couple of weeks and the sex offender Gardener was put behind the bars but the family of Amber Dubois had to wait for more than a year to get to know that she is dead. According to Amber Dubois update police discovered the skeleton of the unlucky girl in Pala. The skeleton was found on Saturday was identified as of Amber Dubois by dental record. Earlier the Police had suspected that the killer of Chelsea might be involved in the disappearance of Amber. Although they have not disclosed what piece of information led them to the remains of Dubois some of her family members think the arrest of Gardner has something to do with it. Gardener has denied his involvement in Chelsea’s murder and the police is ready to charge him with another crime. Meanwhile another girl identified him as the man who tried to abduct her last year.

 Amber Dubois update raises some questions in simple minds why police couldn’t discover her body earlier. The Family of Amber had cooperated with the authorities in a full fledged manner they had also employed a private detective to look for her and the community had generously helped with funds and lookup.

Amber Dubois update was expected from the family of the girl but her mother didn’t give any details as to what led to the final breakthrough. Amber Dubois was reported missing last year in February. She left for school with a $200 check to buy a lamb but the amount was never drawn from the bank. The family and friends of Amber described her as a positive minded girl who liked reading, drawing and painting and wanted to become a farmer.

Windows Browser Ballot Screen Is Working — Up to a Point

Since the start of March, some European versions of Microsoft Windows have been delivered with a so-called “browser ballot screen,” a screen designed to give users a choice of 12 web browsers instead of having Microsoft’s Internet Explorer forced on them. But while it’s already bringing new users to alternative browsers, criticisms of the screen are being leveled, too.

The European Commission’s hope for the screen — which is the result of a settlement between it and Microsoft — was that it would preserve healthy competition among web browsers, and promote choices for users. And there are signs that progress is being made toward reaching those goals: Opera Software says downloads of its browser have tripled since the screen’s introduction. Rolf Assev, chief strategy officer for the Norwegian browser maker, told Reuters that the surge in downloads varies from country to country, with particularly strong upticks seen in Belgium, France, Spain, Poland and the UK.And Mozilla, maker of the popular open source Firefox browser, says some 50,000 downloads of Firefox can be directly traced to the new ballot screen. That’s not a huge number, though, as Mozilla’s CEO John Lilly has confirmed that Firefox typically gets more than half a million downloads a day in Europe.So the ballot screen seems to be having some effect, but there are also problems with its execution. Most glaringly, as ZDNet has noted, there are 12 browsers listed in the ballot screen, ranging from well-known names such as Firefox to less popular browsers such as K-Meleon, but it only displays five at a time, as seen here:

Six of the seven browser makers whose offerings aren’t displayed on the default ballot screen view have already produced a petition asking the European Commission to deliver a version that shows all 12 browsers at once. There are also complaints being lodged by makers of browsers not found on the ballot screen at all.Still, despite varying results for increased downloads of alternative browsers, and some problems with its execution, the ballot screen is likely to increase usage of numerous browsers over time. Thus far, it has only reached a minority of European users. One has to wonder if Microsoft may end up being required to offer U.S.-based users of Windows more choice in browsers, too. That’s probably going to be the focus of the next petition from the alternative browser makers, and the European Committee for Interoperable Systems (ECIS) has already asked for the ballot screen to be repeated around the world.

Womens Bill,Women Reservation Bill

New Delhi, Mar 8 (ANI): The Women’s Reservation Bill, which provides 33 per cent reservation of women in Parliament and the State Assemblies, will be tabled in the Rajya Sabha today.

Law Minister Veerappa Moily will table the Bill for consideration and passage by the Upper House of Parliament.Hailing the consensus reached among major political parties on the Bill, Moily said no single party could claim credit for it. He expressed the hope that the bill would be passed this time.Supporting the Bill, the Congress and the BJP issued whips to their members to remain present in the House to support the Bill.

The Left and allies of both the ruling and opposition like NCP, TDP, DMK, AIADMK, Akali Dal, BJD and National Conference have pledged support to the bill. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party have decided to oppose the bill in its present form.Parliamentary Affairs Minister P K Bansal has appealed to all political parties to support the bill, which has been waiting for passage into law for more than a decade. Adopt A Pet

With this pane of 10 stamp designs, the U.S. Postal Service hopes to raise awareness of the need to adopt shelter pets. The pets depicted on the stamps were photographed by Sally Andersen-Bruce near her home in New Milford, Connecticut. All had been homeless at one time; all but one had been adopted when they were photographed.

On April 30th, the USPS will be releasing the stamps. Now, not all post offices will necessarily have these stamps, so be sure to request your Postmaster to order them. So stop by your local post office or give them a call to politely request they order these stamps.

 Dave Failor, executive director of USPS Stamp Services says CSAC and USPS staff were split between dog and cat people, so there will be two different booklet covers, one with a dog and one with a cat. Failor says he still gets letters calling for more stamps like the Spay/Neuter pair of a few years ago. So, please request that your post office carry the stamps and tell your friends and family about them. This is a great way to spread the word about adopting shelter animals and reiterating the importance of spay/neuter! Plus, they are cute stamps to spruce up all of your mailings!
